MAJOR PROJECT ARCHITECT FRANK GEHRY

The Guggenhiem Museum - Bilbao (Michael McMullan)

Inspired by a visit to the Guggenhiem - Bibao, Spain in September 2005 and a love of aviation and metal I have chosen Frank Gehry as my lead architect for the Major Project.

ROOF STEP - EAVES GUTTER

Step in roof between two parts of the warehouse complex. With an eaves gutter instead of a box gutter there is less risk of water overflowing into the building.

GABLE END PARAPET

A concrete panel parapet detail at the "gable end".

A warehouse with an exposed gutter at the junction of a concrete wall panel. This gutter offers greater protection from water inundation than a box gutter.

CANOPY BOX GUTTER

Box Gutter at the junction of inward sloping canopy and a wall of a warehouse.

Introduction

I passed this site just after Christmas on my push bike. At first glance it appeared to be an ubiquitous portal frame. However the shining relfections from the frame signalled that it was different. The portal frame was not your normal hot rolled steel UB section but cold rolled. The type you usually see in those kit garages and barns, but this spans 20m!
